Dr. Hermann Scheer: Dr. Scheer is a member of the Bundestag, the German House of Parliament, President of EUROSOLAR, and Chairman of the World Council for Renewable Energy. Scheer won the World Solar Prize in 1998, the Alternative Nobel Prize in 1999, and the World Prize for BioEnergy in 2000. He is the author of several books including A Solar Manifesto published by James & James (2001, ISBN: 1-902916-24-7). Trained as an economist, Scheer spearheaded passage of Germany's phenomenally successful Electricity Feed Law in 1991 and the subsequent Renewable Energy Sources Act of 2000 and 2004. Scheer is in great demand as a public speaker and crisscrosses the globe promoting the rapid development of renewable energy.

Hon. Jamie Ballem: Mr. Ballem is a member of the provincial Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island. He was first elected in 1996 and re-elected in 2000, and 2003. He has served as chairman of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Forestry. Mr. Ballem served as Minister of Health and Social Services from 2000 until 2003 when he was appointed Minister of Environment and Energy and Attorney General. Mr. Ballem was a dairy farmer from 1976 to 1993 and served as the first chairperson of the PEI Milk Marketing Board from 1983 to 1987. He has been involved in the potato industry as a grower and a packer and was chair of the Potato Commission from 1987 until 1989. Mr. Ballem is the architect of PEI's Renewable Energy Strategy which has been hailed as the most progressive renewable energy policy proposal in North America.

Hon. Donna Cansfield: Ms. Cansfield is the Parliamentary Assistant to the Ontario Minister of Energy, the Hon. Dwight Duncan. She leads the government's Conservation Action Team which will develop a plan to help the government meet its conservation targets. The team works to remove barriers to conservation in existing government programs, and explore ways for new government policies to incorporate conservation principles. Ms. Cansfield was the past president of the Ontario School Boards Association and has been long active in issues affecting children, families, and senior citizens. She was elected to Ontario's Provincial Parliament in 2003.

Hon. Gilbert Parent, P.C.: Mr. Parent was first elected to Canada's House of Commons in 1974. He was subsequently re-elected five times. As a parliamentarian, Mr. Parent represented Canada at the United Nations and at several Congresses of the International Labour Organization. He served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministers of Veterans Affairs, Labour, Sports and was Opposition Critic for Labour and Youth. In 1994, Mr. Parent was elected Speaker of the House of Commons and re-elected to the position in 1997. Mr. Parent was appointed Canada's Ambassador for the Environment and Sustainable Development in 2000. He is an articulate and persuasive advocate for the rapid development of wind energy in Canada.

Jim Fulton: Mr. Fulton is the Executive Director of the David Suzuki Foundation. He served 15 years in the Canada's House of Commons as the national spokesperson on the environment for the New Democratic Party. He also held Opposition portfolios in Aboriginal Affairs, Energy, Mining, and Forestry among others. Mr. Fulton served as Vice-Chair for the Canada-United States Interparliamentary Association from 1980 until 1993.

Dr. Frede Hvelplund: Dr. Hvelplund is professor of Technology, Environment & Society in the Department of Development and Planning at Aalborg University in Denmark. He is an authority on renewable energy development and is the author of several studies, including a book-length treatment, Renewable Energy Governance Systems (ISBN: 87-90893-26-3) examining the success of Renewable Energy Tariffs in Denmark and Germany and the failure of the tendering system in Great Britain.

Dr. Olav Hohmeyer: Since 1998 Dr. Hohmeyer has been chairman of the University of Flensburg's department of Energy and Resource Economics in Flensburg, Germany. From 1994 to 1998 he was head of the department for Environmental and Resource Economics at the Centre for European Economic Research in Manheim, Germany. Dr. Hohmeyer received his PhD from the University of Bremen in 1989 for his groundbreaking thesis on the social and environmental costs of energy.

Paul Gipe: Mr. Gipe has written extensively about wind energy for both the popular and trade press. For his efforts the World Renewable Energy Congress honoured Gipe as a "pioneer" in 1998 and the American Wind Energy Association named him as the industry's "person of the year" in 1988. Gipe is an authority on the worldwide development of wind energy. His new book, Wind Power: Renewable Energy for Home, Farm, and Business was recently published by Chelsea Green (ISBN: 1-931498-14-8).
