Presentation delivered by OSEA executive director Kristopher Stevens at the ASES Solar Conference in Buffalo, New York, May 15, 2009. This presentation was part of a panel entitled, "Feed in Tariffs: Can North America Take Them to the Next Level?" Moderator: Paul Gipe, North American Alliance for Renewable Energy

In little more than one year, feed-in tariffs for the rapid development of massive amounts of renewable energy have gone from the "it will never happen here" stage to a topic of debate by mainstream politicians and policy wonks alike. Renewable energy advocates, businesses, farmers, and homeowners have all called for the introduction of feed-in tariff policies like those used in Germany, France, and Spain that have launched the European renewable energy revolution. If Europe can do it, we can do it here in North America too, creating the jobs and industry we so desperately need.
