The Conference:
The green energy sector in Ontario is threatened by uncertainty as the provincial election approaches. Developers, manufactures, government and investors are concerned about what may happen to the industry, their projects and businesses after October 6. Residents and communities are concerned whether clean air and water, new found well paying jobs, local project ownership and hope, will be yanked from underneath them.

Join the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association for its third annual conference to hear about and discuss Green Energy Ontario 2.0 and strategies for the sector as we navigate untraveled waters together.

Day One (November 14) sessions include:
Green Energy Ontario 2.0: A community, a manufacturer’s and a private sector perspective

OSEA Community Power Roadmap to Success workshop series

We are please to announce that OSEA has partnered with several NFP organizations to deliver 15 community power workshops across the province. OSEA was awarded an education grant from the Community Energy Partnerships Program (CEPP) to deliver these 3 hr interactive and experiential workshops which are free to attend and require no previous experience or knowledge regarding solar power or renewable green energy to participate!

Our goal is to engage established community-based organizations (e.g. environmental clubs, ethnocultural associations, student unions etc) and institutional groups with assets (e.g. municipalities, hospitals, and schools) and to build up their capacity to collaborate on their own community power projects. Ultimately, our interest is to build confidence in Ontario community-based groups to embark upon the launching of a project from start to finish.

The workshops are spread across the province with the first one taking place in London on Tuesday September 13th. Following that Kitchener-Waterloo takes place on Thursday September 15th and we will be in Sault Ste Marie on Friday September 23rd.

If you are interested to attend one of these workshops, or need more information please contact Steve Ireson via Steve@Ontario-SEA.org.

New way to invest in solar power now available in Ontario

A new opportunity to invest in solar in Ontario was announced August 8th with the province-wide release of SolarShare Community Solar Bonds, $1000 bonds that earn 5% annual returns over a 5-year term. Developed by TREC Renewable Energy Co-operative, the SolarShare Co-operative is offering bonds to its members that are invested in a portfolio of eighteen solar electric power projects, totaling over 600kW of capacity and representing over $3.7million of investment. The projects are already constructed, producing power and generating stable long-term revenues under 20-year Ontario Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) contracts. SolarShare offers investors 'triple bottom line' returns: economic, social and environmental benefits.
