Community Power Roadmap To Success Workshop Series & Video
|
As we hit the end of October, we are pleased to have successfully delivered six of our fifteen workshops. London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Sault Ste Marie, Toronto, Cobden and Perth. Many thanks to our local partners in those areas for all their hard work setting things up in advance of our arrival.
A great mix of attendees at each session, and plenty of excitement and ideas about community power projects. Hopefully we will see these ideas turn into completed projects down the road.
Over the next six weeks we will be delivering sessions in Midland, Sudbury, Sarnia-Lambton, Cobourg, Hamilton, Niagara, Aurora, Barrie and back to Toronto.
The goal of this initiative is to encourage local community engagement, participation and investment in renewable energy projects by their increasing awareness of renewable energy and local ownership.
OSEA’s Community Power Workshops will help you to prepare an action plan for a community power project in your neighbourhood. Community owned –community controlled and generating economic, environmental and social benefits for you and your neighbours. This will be an interactive, highly participative workshop. We will create a community vision for a project in your community – a project you are working on; a project that you see as a possibility or we will use a practical example that is applicable to you. We will experience the value of working together and use a variety of tools to establish the scope, feasibility and organizational structure for your project. OSEA will introduce its new Community-Based Renewable Energy Impact Model – local leaders will be provided with a clear understanding of the jobs and expenditures created locally. Our Roadmap for Getting Your Project from Vision to Reality has been translated into a "Toolkit for Initiating Your Solar (PV) Community Power Project." This is a 69 page take-a-way workbook to help you mobilize your community to think locally and act locally.
For a little more insight into community-based power and our workshops please watch our short video at: http://go.ontario-sea.org/mjiav
If you would like to attend any of these workshops, please contact Steve Ireson at: Steve@Ontario-SEA.org
