OSEA Community Power Workshop Series

OSEA, St. Lawrence College and the World Wind Energy Association co-hosted the 7th annual World Wind Energy Conference (WWEC) in Kingston, Ontario. The focus of the Conference was Community Power.

About the Workshops

OSEA put on a Community Power Workshop Series to complement the “Community Power” theme of the World Wind Energy Conference 2008. These workshops were offered to encourage community participation in renewable power development and to educate individual landowners, First Nations, non-profits, farmers, cooperatives, eNGO's, and municipalities.

Topics covered included partnership models, financing renewable energy projects, policies supporting community-based project development, technical and management challenges, and capacity-building. The Community Power Workshop Series was generously sponsored by the Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA).

Workshops: Mobilizing Resources For Community Ownership; Understanding RE Technology; Exploring Ownership Models Available to the Consumer; Financing Options; Building Your Community Ownership Programs; Finding The Technology That Works For You; Resolving Grid Issues; and Integrating Financing Into Your Plan.
